The murder of Laken Riley is a reminder of the death and devastation that ensues when civic leaders enact unjust government policy; that is, when government neglects to follow its Romans 13 mandate to be an avenger against evil doers.   The Bible is also clear that civic leaders are morally accountable for the outcomes of their policies.  Hence, many have the blood of Laken Riley on their hands.

With the soon to be radically conservative administration in Washington there is a dramatic cultural shift.  Will president Trump be able to implement his policies of reversing illegal immigration, expunging DEI, saving American business through tariffs, shrinking the size of bloated government and rooting out corruption in the deep state? Will it be successful?  We don’t know!  “Though the wise man should say, ‘I know,’ he cannot discover” (Ecc. 8:17).  In God’s work in this world, expect the unexpected. “I am doing something in your days— You would not believe if you were told” (Hab. 1:5).

Last week we looked at the rejoicing over Trump’s victory; this week we look at the opposite response, “Terror to the workers of iniquity.”  After covering the ideological worldview behind the rage of the Left, I discuss secondary reasons for the anger.  The nations are truly in a rage against the Lord (Psalm 2).

Evangelicals are ecstatic over the election results. But because some Evangelicals see Trump as a quasi-conservative, they are reluctant to rejoice. Yet, throughout the Bible, every social leader was flawed.  Nevertheless, God’s people would still rejoice when the righteous king (relatively righteous) came to the throne.  This brings up the Biblical question, “how can we rejoice at all in this fallen world?”

Election Day:  Rather than discussing more news about the election, this week’s program is about Bible History.  There are timeless, spiritual lessons to be learned in a study of the 22-year period of Israel’s final four kings.  Their reign ended in the destruction of the nation.  How did these kings drive the nation off the cliff?

In order to make the biggest impact on the election, political candidates usually wait until October to expose dirt on their opposition.  This October, since the Democrats and their media surrogates have used up all of their ammunition on Trump, they could only recycle the two year old story that Trump’s chief of Staff, John Kelly, claimed Trump admired Hitler.  The media made it look like a whole new story by interviewing John Kelly once again.  This week’s program delves into the strange projection of the Democrats calling Trump a Fascist.  In the program, I also provided some commentary on how Abimelech and Absalom are examples of the methods used by sleazy, unprincipled politicians.

This week’s program is a continuation of program 672 (Video 325) – How to pray for the elections.   Since there are so many more requests that Christians are told to pray for, especially as seen in the Psalms, this subject deserves a second program.

As we close in on the election, this week’s program is another reminder that God’s hand of providence determines the outcome. The media and the campaign consultants may believe they are the king makers, but God ordains the moves that either ensure victory or defeat.  The Bible is filled with texts and stories that remind us of this truth.

Politicians, even conservative politicians, are unwilling to tell the truth about any issue because they can’t afford to lose the vote of any special interest group.  This results in a steady downward descent into more lies and corruption.  The lowest common denominator rules the culture.  To save the country, we need civic leaders who are willing to tell the truth no matter what the cost.   But everyone is greedy for short-term gain, rather than being principled and passionate about the truth.

In this weeks program I share some Biblical insights in how to pray for the upcoming election.  Certainly we should be praying, as we are commanded to pray for all who are in authority (1 Timothy 2), but like the disciples, we need to be taught how to pray.  I share some initial doctrines about prayer and then give six additional truths about prayer.  Since I am traveling this week, there is only the radio broadcast.
